Bean Point

Bean Point, named after the island’s founder, is located on the northern tip of Anna Maria Island and was long considered to be one of the area’s best kept secrets. Although you might find a few people here now that the secret is become more widely known, it is still far less crowded than the public beach parks on the island.

The beach at Bean Point is unique and spectacular with beautiful shells and sand dollars, views of dolphins, manatees, and a large array of bird species from the shore, clear blue water and soft white sand. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful natural beaches in the state, however be aware that this beach doesn’t have facilities.

Coquina Beach

Coquina Beach located on the south end of the island is an ideal place to bring kids, with a pirate themed playground and plenty of facilities. Here you’ll find families and groups soaking up the sun, playing Frisbee with their dogs, searching for colorful shells to take home, enjoying picnics and walking or biking.

There is an extended scenic biking/waking trail here which is shaded by huge Australian pines and paved. This 96-acre beach recreation area offers free parking and can be easily reached by trolley. It offers more of an “Old Florida” feeling, as the area hasn’t had as many modern changes as some of the other parts of the island.

Bayfront Park

Bayfront Park is located on the northern end of Anna Maria Island offering a beautiful view of Egmont Key and the world famous Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The park is located between two historic fishing piers and offers plenty of facilities including restrooms, picnic areas, a playground on the beach, and showers. Bayfront Park is worth a visit for the unique scenic views, along with the fact that it’s a great place for families to enjoy a day at the beach followed by more fun at the nearby Anna Maria City Pier.

Manatee Public Beach

Manatee Public Beach is one of the main stops for the island trolley and is a very popular attraction for family vacations. It is located toward the middle of the island in Holmes Beach and features facilities for families as well as a concession area and lifeguards for your safety. There is also a small beach bar where you can grab a drink while enjoying a beautiful sunset or whenever you need to break from the sun and waves. Nearby are plenty of places to get lunch or dinner, and you can even walk to the northern tip of the island along the beach for a nice workout, which takes about 2 hours.

Accessing Anna Maria Island Beaches
