When to Fish
Anna Maria Island’s coastal atmosphere provides for fantastic fishing conditions all year long. However, if you’re looking to catch something specific, you need to follow seasonal fishing patterns. In addition to regular line fishing, spiny lobster season and stone crab season are both events that are eagerly anticipated on Anna Maria Island.
The spiny lobster season generally runs from the beginning of August through the end of March, and you must hold a recreational saltwater fishing license as well as a spiny lobster permit. Stone crab season opens in mid-October and runs through May.

Make sure to find out if you need a fishing license ahead of time. Anyone over 16-years-old will need to get a local license before casting a line.
